Dhaka Collegiate School, one of the oldest educational institutions in Bangladesh, was established during the British colonial period in 1835.
As the school grew and produced generations of students, informal alumni networks began to form among former students, fostering a sense of camaraderie and shared experiences.
In August 1963, some alumni of Dhaka Collegiate School thought of establishing a formal alumni association. The urge to preserve the past and to unfold it through a medium that would help exploit their creative potential inspired the ex-collegiatians to set up the organization.
On 8th March 1964, Dr. Kazi Motahar Hossain formally inaugurated the Dacca Collegiate School Old Boys Association at the Iqbal Hall auditorium (present-day Surgent Jahurul Haque Hall, Dhaka University).
In August 1965, the ad-hoc committee was formally introduced at the British Council auditorium by our then chief patron, Mr. Kazi Anwarul Haque (Minister, Ministry of Education of the Govt. of Pakistan), and other distinguished alumni. In the same month, it also awarded 20 students from the province, despite the limited funds.
1967 was one of the most active years for the alumni association as it hosted its first annual dinner in January and its annual reunion at the end of the year.
In 1985 and 2010, the Alumni Association hosted the 150th & 175th founding anniversaries of Dhaka Collegiate School respectively under the presidency of Mr. H.T Imam (Then advisor to the Prime Minister of the govt. of Bangladesh). Dhaka Collegiate School Alumni Association also organized sports activities for the alumni and current students.
